I explore abandoned spaces and old buildings, investigate memory and the stories that can be evoked through photography. I also compose soundscapes to interact with the images.

How did you get into your art form / creative practice (100 words)
As a young kid, I would always get excited whenever a roll of film was developed. Then in a Year 11 Art class, we were allowed to borrow a digital SLR for a weekend and I fell in love with it. My parents gave me a camera for my birthday and ever since it hasn't left my side. I never thought I'd end up doing a degree in photography, but as a result I've met so many wonderful interesting and inspiring people at the Queensland College of Art. It's been an amazing experience and has opened up so many opportunities.
Your local arts scene is... (50 words)
at the Queensland Centre for Photography on the corner of Cordelia and Russel street in South Brisbane. Opening nights are always fun and it's great to look at inspiring artwork among friends.
Where do you find inspiration and why? (50 words)
Inspiration comes from everywhere but can especially be found among dusty old rooms, hidden attics and lost objects. I also play French horn, rehearsing each week with QWO in the Old Museum Building and always find something of intrigue there... including mysterious basements filled with broken piano keys.
An artistic / creative achievement you are particularly proud of... (100 words)
I was excited to recently win the Queensland Poetry Festival FilmMaker's Challenge with my piece 'Of Ochres and Ruins', screened at the Judith Wright Centre. I created music soundscapes overlayed with images and the written word through experimental stop-motion photography. It was a great feeling to discover a way to combine my passions and areas of interest.
What do you hope to create in the future? (100 words)
Now that I have finished my Honours in Photography, I will keep experimenting with stop-motion and video, creating fusions between image and soundscapes and constructing surreal environments with found objects. There are still so many different directions to pursue within my art practice and I'm looking forward to continuing the journey.
